The first G-BiKE comic is out! This comic is the first part of the series created within the virtual mobility grants conducted by Adi Habul and Peter Galbusera. Get to know the G-BiKE COST action (CA18134), the European network of researchers and practitioners working together to contribute to the improvement of the protection of genetic diversity in the world. Learn the basic concepts of the species and individual diversity with the help of Dr. Ciconia Nigra, our resident researcher, and Mr. Fagus, a longtime practitioner and a friend of Dr. Ciconia.

Towards CBD COP15, the G-BiKE COST Action and the Coalition for Conservation Genetics, co-hosted by GEO BON and the CBD Secretariat, are organizing for policy makers and biodiversity reporters, specifically those attending or supporting teams in the next COP-15 in Montreal, a webinar related to genetic diversity and the post 2020 Global Biodiversity Framework. Genetic diversity is a vital component of biodiversity to ensure the resilience of species, ecosystems, and society. This webinar will show how it is possible to measure and report on genetic diversity with feasible and affordable indicators, which do not need genetic (DNA) data, and which use available data and knowledge within countries on population abundance and distribution. The webinar will be held twice November 14 (14h00 UTC) and November 16 (22h00 UTC) , via Zoom, to accommodate different time zones. It will be held in English with translators available to answer questions in Spanish, French and Portuguese.

The structure, aims and outcomes of G-BiKE COST action were presented today at the Second Southeast European Ichthyological Conference (SEEIC 2022), taking place on the island of Brač, Croatia, October 12-15. The poster presented by Belma Kalamujić Stroil put the focus on the policy briefs created by G-BiKE to spread the message on the importance of genetic diversity and indicators for its monitoring. One of the important goals of the G-Bike COST action is to develop a recognizable visual identity for our network of researchers and practitioners to spread our message more strikingly and memorably. In that regard, as one of the outcomes of Adi Habul's virtual mobility grant, we created PowerPoint templates to be used by G-Bikers when presenting the aims and achievements of our action.
