New paper reveals research gaps for next-generation conservation technologies to reduce biodiversity loss

A new study provides a practical guide for decision-makers and practitioners on the emerging new tools for protecting biodiversity, and the remaining research gaps. November 11, 2021 – More investment and support for research into emerging genomic tools for conservation is needed to prevent further biodiversity loss, according to a new paper published in Conversation Genetics. A new publication explores the field of genomic technologies, and how and in which circumstances they could be used as additional tools to prevent the extinction of endangered species.

Conserving and monitoring genetic diversity will benefit nature and society

A new paper in the journal BioScience signed by 28 scientists representing 16 countries committed to tackle the hidden biodiversity crisis is published in collaboration with G-BiKE.

Workshop on Ne, effective population size

Welcome to a half day online workshop arranged by G‐BiKE on recent issues relating to contemporary effective population size (Ne) in relation to monitoring of genetic diversity. The aim of the workshop is to highlight some new important insights that is of relevance in applying Ne as an indicator for conservation genetic status. To discuss these topics with the aim to explore if there are some general recommendations for practical management that can be agreed on.

The G-BiKE's webinar series towards the CBD post-2020 GBF

To promote the adoption of the newly proposed three genetic indicators (Hoban et al., 2020), G-BiKE has resumed a series of webinar targeting the countries CBD delegates.
